ISBN Barcode Scanning

Scan a book's ISBN barcode with your camera and add it to your collection or wishlist in seconds. No typing, no manual searching. Works with any physical book. new releases, second-hand finds, and limited editions alike.

Automatic Metadata

Title, author, cover art, publisher, and description are automatically pulled via the Google Books API the moment you scan. Your book catalog builds itself; no manual data entry needed.

Smart Filters

Browse your personal library your way. Filter by author, group by genre, or sort by title and price. Finding any book in your collection takes seconds, no matter how large it grows.

Make it your own

Switch between dark mode and light mode, then pick from 28 curated accent colors to create a look that feels uniquely yours. Themes and custom colors are a Pro feature unlocked with a one-time in-app purchase.

Collector notes

Pookiebase is a personal book collection app that lets you scan ISBNs, organize your library, manage a wishlist, and customize the app's look to match your style.
Your account and saved book collections are securely stored on our servers so you can access them anytime. Manually added books are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded.
Yes. You can manually create a book entry with your own title, author, notes, and cover. These entries are stored locally on your device.
When you scan or search for an ISBN, we retrieve book information using the Google Books API. We only send the ISBN number, never your personal data.
No. We do not sell your data, run ads, or use tracking analytics.
Yes. You can export your collection at any time within the app. You can also permanently delete your account in Account → Scroll to bottom → Remove Account. If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion by emailing [email protected] from the email address linked to your account.
If you delete the app without deleting your account, your server-stored collection remains intact. Locally added manual books may be lost unless exported first.

Black Cat Studios is the data controller responsible for your personal information under the GDPR. Here is a summary of how we handle your data.

1. What We Collect

  • Account data (server): Email address, hashed password, and optional screen name — required to create and manage your account.
  • Book collection (server): Books in your collection and wishlist, linked to your account via a user-book relationship table.
  • Manually added books (device only): Books you create with custom info are stored locally and never sent to our servers.
  • Google Books API: ISBN numbers are sent to Google to retrieve book metadata. No personal account data is shared with Google.

2. How We Use Your Data

We process your data solely to provide the app: account management, authentication, storing your collection, and responding to support inquiries. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making.

3. Legal Bases (GDPR)

  • Performance of a Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): Account and collection data are necessary to operate the Services.
  • Legal Obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)): Where required by applicable law.
  • Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): Limited technical data to maintain security and functionality.

4. Sharing

We do not sell or rent your data. We only share it with Google (ISBN lookups), when legally required, or in the event of a business transfer.

5. Retention & Deletion

Data is retained while your account is active. Deleting your account removes your account info, user-book relationships, and associated personal data from our active systems. You can delete your account in the app: Account → Scroll to bottom → Remove Account.

6. Your Rights (EEA)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, and to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority. Contact us at [email protected] with any requests.
